Silver Creek Plunge Hot Springs Resort is a mountain destination 25 miles north of the town of Crouch in the Boise National Forest.
It first started as a silver mine in the 1890s until the miners struck a source of geothermal mineral water. In fact, the mine entrance is still there at the edge of the pool. The rocks are visible, encased in cement and tile.
Hot mineral water flows out of a source at 100° F - 104° F (38° C - 40° C), depending on the season. It enters the large, 186,000-gallon pool where an average temperature is maintained around 100° F (38° C).
With a water flow rate of approximately 540 gallons per minute, the entire volume of water is completely replaced every 6 hours. This rapid turnover ensures efficient circulation and requires only minimal chlorination to maintain water quality.
Then, water leaves the pool and flows down the hill into Silver Creek Hot Springs.
The swimming pool at Silver Creek Plunge Resort is accessible year-round, and no reservations are necessary. Please note that swimsuits are mandatory.
Silver Creek Plunge Resort offers a range of accommodations, making it an ideal base camp to enjoy other outdoor adventures! Accommodations include cabins and tent/RV spots. Cabins must be reserved in advance, while the campground is first-come, first-served.
The resort has a solar panel field generating electricity, but in a limited amount.

Silver Creek Plunge Resort can be a fantastic base camp to discover central Idaho with hiking, fishing, nature viewing, and other adventures! During winter, it can also be a snowmobile and skiing paradise!
Rockhounding is productive on Silver Creek and other nearby rivers. You can even find the unique quartz mica shining in the water like silver. This mineral is the reason the creek got its name.
