State Bath House Hot Springs - Soaking Experience

The hot mineral water at the State Bath House flows directly from the earth at 135°F before being cooled to a safe and soothing 104°F in both the indoor and outdoor pools—just the right temperature for a relaxing soak.

The facility features two public mineral pools, one located inside and another outside, both maintained at a constant temperature of 104°F year-round. For health and safety reasons, visitors are limited to 20 minutes in each pool.

Best of all, soaking here is completely free—a true Wyoming gem. The bathhouse is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., although hours may vary during winter or holidays.

The water carries a light sulfur scent, adding to the authentic hot springs experience.

Swimsuits are required, and you will find clean locker rooms, showers, and comfortable spaces to rest between soaks.

The bathhouse welcomes thousands of visitors annually, with more than 18,000 gallons of mineral-rich water flowing through the pools every day.

Beyond the Hot Springs: Other Adventures

The State Bath House is just one highlight of Hot Springs State Park. After soaking, I love to take a stroll along the colorful mineral terraces just outside—the way they glow in the morning light is truly beautiful.

The park is also home to a small herd of about 15 bison, and if you visit in winter, you might catch a glimpse of them being fed.

For those who enjoy walking, there are 6.2 miles of accessible trails, many of which are flat and easy enough for families to enjoy together.

The Big Horn River winds through the park, offering great opportunities for fishing or simply sitting by the water to take in the peaceful scenery.

And if you want more soaking, check out Hellie's TePee Pools and Spa and Star Plunge nearby, or Fountain of Youth RV Park, 2 miles away.
