Lava Hot Springs (sometimes called Lava Hot Springs Foundation) is a water park in the town of Lava Hot Springs. It offers multiple soaking and swimming pools, water slides, a diving tower, and more!

The hot springs used to be part of the Fort Hall reservation, created by a treaty agreement between Native Americans and the US Government in the late 1800s.

The government later bought the springs and the 178 acres of land around them and, in 1902, donated it to the State of Idaho.

The state passed all the rights to manage and improve the land to the Lava Hot Springs Foundation. The foundation developed springs into a day-use water park you can see today and enjoy with the entire family.

Geothermal Water & Soaking

Geothermal water comes from the source at about 112° F (44° C) and is piped into the multiple chemical-free indoor and outdoor pools.

Indoor Aquatic Center has:

  • 6-lane, 25-yard pool with a 1-meter diving board. The pool is 85° F (29° C)
  • Natural mineral water hot tub at 105° F (41° C)
  • Kiddie pool, with temperatures ranging from 92° F to 94° F (33° C - 34° C)
  • Aqua climb wall

Outside, there is a 50-meter-long Olympic-size pool with 8 lanes, maintained at 90° F (32° C). It also has two pockets, one for chilling and splashing and another for diving.

The diving side has a complete diving setup above the 17-ft deep end. The diving tower has 5, 7, or 10-meter-high platforms and the Aqua Zip. There are also 2 sets of water slides - curly and speed slides.

Both indoor and outdoor swimming pools, restrooms, and dressing rooms are handicap accessible.

Additionally, you can register for swimming lessons at the park.

This is a family-friendly facility, so the bathsuits are mandatory.
