Riverside Hot Springs Inn & Spa sits in the heart of Lava Hot Springs. It offers comfortable accommodations, fine dining, access to multiple outdoor adventures in the area, and, most importantly, hot mineral water soaking.

William "Billy" Richard Godfrey first came to Idaho in 1896 to establish a cattle ranch. Having recognized the benefits of the local hot mineral water, he decided to settle permanently.

In 1914, Godfrey built a hotel on the bank of the Portneuf River. He also built cement tubs for therapeutic baths. The hotel even served as a hospital during the 1918-1920 Spanish flu pandemic, saving many of its patients due to its central heating.

The founder also operated a taxi service to the train station and helped those in need. Godfrey offered shelter and return home money to those who arrived in the town but could not make it here.

Billy Godfrey played a key role in establishing the town's first bank and organized entertainment events through "The Lava Amusement Company." He left a lasting impact on Lava Hot Springs before passing away in 1942.

Today, Riverside Hot Springs still carries its founder's legacy. The inn has a vintage, cozy vibe that is seamlessly combined with well-developed, high-quality services for guests.

Riverside Hot Springs Inn is open year-round. Even if you are not staying overnight, you can still visit the spa and enjoy a soak. Advance reservation is still necessary, though.

Since 1979, Riverside Hot Springs Inn has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places by the National Park Service, recognizing its historical significance.

Not far from Riverside Inn, you can access numerous other hot springs in Lava Hot Springs and beyond.

The Portneuf River, next to the inn, is an excellent spot for fishing, kayaking, boating, and other activities.

Additionally, Riverside hosts live music events throughout the year.
