• Jackson Hot Springs Lodge is a western-style lodge with a mineral soaking pool
• Legendary explorer Clark visited the springs during one of his expeditions
Jackson Hot Springs is a western-style lodge with a mineral soaking pool in the heart of the Big Hole Valley, 47 miles southwest of Dillon.
Clark's expedition (done separately from Lewis's) first mentioned the spring at the beginning of the 19th century. Discoverer's Shoshone Indian guide Sacagawea took them to the springs to rest and boil some meat in the mineral water.
With time, the spring became popular among explorers, fur trappers, and other adventurers. As a result, in 1911, a hotel was built on Main Street in Jackson with geothermal water piped into a plunge.
In addition to hot mineral soaking, Jackson Hot Springs is a fantastic base camp for year-round outdoor activities in the area. You can get a day pass for the pool or book an overnight stay here.
Geothermal Water & Soaking
The geothermal mineral water comes from the source at 138° F (59° C). Then, it is piped into the pool and lodge cabins.
The pool is 30 ft x 75 ft, with water constantly flowing through, so no chemicals are added. Water temperature is maintained between 100 ° F and 106° F (38° C - 41° C).
Also, the water has no sulfur smell or other odor.
Clothing is mandatory here, and kids 5 years old and under are not allowed in the hot springs.
