Baumgartner Hot Springs is a geothermal oasis tucked within the Sawtooth National Forest near the South Fork Boise River. This cozy soaking spot sits 11 miles east of Featherville and 33 miles south of Atlanta.
It’s a fantastic place to unwind, enjoy a rejuvenating mineral soak, and explore the many outdoor activities in the area, including hiking, fishing, nature viewing, and off-roading.

Baumgartner Hot Springs Mineral Pools & Soaking
Hot mineral water emerges at about 110°F (43°C) and flows into a 15×20-foot concrete pool, where it stays between 101°F and 110°F (38° - 43°C) depending on the season.
The pool uses a flow-through system, so no chemicals are added. It features a concrete deck, benches, and nearby toilets and changing rooms. The pool is drained nightly and cleaned weekly on Tuesdays; on cleaning days it may not open until noon.
Soaps, alcohol, and glass containers are not allowed in or near the pool. Swimsuits are required, and pets are not allowed in the pool area.

Things to Do at Baumgartner Hot Springs: Other Adventures
Baumgartner Hot Springs Trail is an easy 0.4-mile path that takes about 15 minutes to complete. Dogs are allowed but must be leashed.
The South Fork Boise River offers excellent rafting, swimming, and fishing—especially for rainbow trout.

Baumgartner Hot Springs Camping and Lodging
Baumgartner Hot Springs is part of the Baumgartner Campground, managed by the U.S. Forest Service. The campground has 39 sites and is open May through September. Reservation can be made on Recretion. gov website.
There are no services or RV hookups; the nearest amenities are in Featherville (11 miles) and Pine (9 miles).
Nearby Trinity Hot Springs offers lodging with six rooms, two cabins, a separate house, and a campsite for both tents and RVs.

From Mountain Home,
- Take Highway US-20 and travel 32 miles east to Forest Road 61
- Turn left (north) onto Forest 61 and follow 29 miles to Baumgartner/ Souse Boise River Road
- Go straight on Baumgartner Road for 10 miles to Forest Road 227
- Turn right Forest Road 227 and then left on Forest Road 487, continue 0.5 miles to the hot springs parking on the right.
