Feather River Hot Springs

Feather River Hot Springs is a geothermal oasis on the bank of the Feather River

Feather River Hot Springs, formerly known as Woody’s Hot Springs, is a small geothermal resort located in Northern California. It sits in the scenic Feather River Canyon on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada. A short walking trail connects the resort to the hot springs.

The hot springs are set beside the Feather River and offer a quiet, natural setting for soaking and relaxation.

Feather River Hot Springs Water and Soaking

Natural mineral water emerges from nearby geothermal sources at temperatures ranging from 100°F to 108°F (38-42°C). The water feeds a rectangular cement tub that is divided into two sections. Each section receives water from a different source, resulting in different mineral content, appearance, and odor.

The larger section contains clear, colorless water at about 105°F (40°C) and can accommodate up to four people. The smaller section has milky-white water from sulfur oxidation and is suitable for two people. A sulfur odor is present in this section.

Additional primitive pools are located below the main tub near the river. These pools are formed by overflow from the main soaking area.

Soakers can enjoy a full geothermal experience by alternating between hot soaking and a refreshing cold plunge in the Feather River. Swimsuits are required

The resort has several rules to follow. Dogs are not allowed. Open flames and smoking are prohibited. Children in diapers are not permitted in the tubs.

Headlamps or flashlights are recommended for evening soaking.

Feather River Hot Spring Camping and Lodging

The resort offers a small number of cabins, along with RV and tent campsites. The cabins are simple and designed for couples seeking a quiet stay. Each cabin sleeps up to two people and does not allow children or pets.

RV sites can accommodate a range of vehicle sizes and offer a convenient option for travelers who want easy access to the hot springs. Tent campsites are located in a peaceful, natural setting near the river and are ideal for visitors who enjoy rustic camping. Restroom facilities are available on site.
