Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa combines Spanish Mission charm with modern spa comforts
The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa in Sonoma Valley blends historic Spanish Mission style with modern luxury, natural hot springs, and top Wine Country dining.
This welcoming California resort is just one hour from San Francisco, 1.5 hours from Sacramento, and 20 minutes from Napa. It is surrounded by vineyards, redwood groves, and rolling hills—the classic scenery of Sonoma Wine Country.
Sonoma Hot Springs have been popular for centuries and remain so today. The inn continues the tradition with mineral pools, a top spa, and quiet places to relax.
The resort is known for its Willow Stream Spa with multiple mineral pools, a Roman-style bathhouse, and wellness classes; the Michelin-recognized Sante restaurant; the chic 38º North Wine Bar; and exclusive access to the private Sonoma Golf Club.
Relax in comfort and see why Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa is a favorite Wine Country hot springs resort for modern travelers who want authentic geothermal soaking, great food, and easy access to Sonoma and Napa wineries.

Fairmont Sonoma Hot Springs Experience
At Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa, you can enjoy mineral-rich geothermal pools throughout the Willow Stream Spa.
The water comes from multiple natural sources, up to 109°F (43°C), and flows into pools of different temperatures: a warm therapeutic pool (~98°F), a hot mineral pool (~102°F), a cool plunge (~55°F), outdoor heated swimming pools, and Jacuzzis tucked in gardens. The water is naturally low in sulfur, gently alkaline, and silky on the skin.
Inside the spa, there’s a Roman-style bathhouse, a Watsu pool for water shiatsu, steam rooms, saunas, relaxation lounges, and 40+ treatment rooms.
Signature treatments include custom massages, hot stone therapy, vinotherapy facials, and CBD treatments. Daily wellness activities like yoga, Pilates, and aqua aerobics are also available.

Things to Do at Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn: Beyond Hot Springs
There’s a lot to do at the resort and nearby in Sonoma Valley.
You can play golf at the exclusive Sonoma Golf Club, enjoy daily wine tastings in the lobby, and take guided vineyard tours. Sunrise hot-air balloon rides offer amazing valley views.
I like that there are opportunities to rent bikes or e-bikes and explore downtown Sonoma or nearby areas. You can also go horseback riding in the hills or enjoy cooking classes and local art at the resort.
When it’s time to explore more, the shuttle makes it easy to visit Sonoma Plaza for shops, tasting rooms, and historic sites.
Hungry? There are plenty of great options.
Sante Restaurant is my favorite for California dishes made with seasonal vegetables, seafood, and local meats.
I also enjoy stopping by the 38º North Wine Bar for a glass of wine and small bites like charcuterie.
On warm days, the Water Tower Bar is perfect for poolside drinks and snacks. As an overnight guest, I appreciate the complimentary bottle of wine, and it’s nice knowing in-room dining is available 24 hours a day.

Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa Lodging
The resort offers 226 rooms and suites. Many rooms have fireplaces, patios, or garden views. The Spanish Mission design is mixed with modern comfort.
Room choices range from standard to larger deluxe rooms and suites.
The deluxe rooms are more spacious, and many include fireplaces. Suites have separate living areas and bigger bathrooms.
Some suites have private patios or balconies with views of the garden or the pool.
Accessible rooms are available with wider doors and roll-in showers.
Dogs are allowed in the inn for an extra cleaning fee, and the resort provides beds, bowls, and walking maps.
Tip: If you like to unwind by the fire, book a Deluxe Room or a Suite with a fireplace. It pairs well with a post-soak glass of Sonoma Pinot.
