West Valley Warm Springs doesn’t offer the best bathing opportunities

West Valley Warm Springs is tucked away at the western slope of the Warner Range, a few miles east of the West Valley Reservoir. The springs are coming from a few sources feeding two man-made pools made of volcanic rocks.

The water emerges from the source at about 90 degrees Fahrenheit and becomes lukewarm at the pools. Besides temperatures too low for hot springs, the pools are small and therefore do not offer the best bathing opportunities.

Despite the springs is not being a bathing location, this is a perfect place to enjoy northeastern California nature. West Valley Reservoir Hot Spring is located close to West Valley Hot Springs but at the time of our visit, it was closed to public access.

Do not abuse the privilege of accessing the area and leave no trace behind! If possible, please pick up the trash that others have left to keep this area clean and open for everyone to enjoy!

There are no services available and the nearest ones are in Alturas 25 miles away. The small community of Likely is located nearby and has a general store and a bar.
