The Lodge at Hot Lake Springs, 9 miles southeast of La Grande, sits in the southern part of the Grande Ronde Valley of Union County. It is built in the early 1900s and is a notable example of the Colonial Revival style. This historic hotel at the northern base of a small, treeless hill is located on the shore of one of the largest hot springs in the world.

Located 9 miles southwest of La Grande at the foot of Craig Mountain in the Grande Ronde Valley, the Grande Hot Springs RV Resort offers an excellent soaking opportunity in mineral-rich hot water directly pumped from the Hot Lake.
Established in 1988, the RV resort was a part of the historic Hot Lake Hotel. But 2 years later, in 1990, the Hot Lake property was near bankruptcy and foreclosure. In 1994, it was parceled out, and Hot Lake Springs and the RV Resort became separate units with different owners.
The Hot Lake receives over 2 million gallons of 186°F (86°C) hot water daily from thermal springs flowing from the ground. The 171°F (77°C) hot water is transferred from the lake to feed the pool, spa, private soaking tubs, and for heating all buildings.
